I discovered my talent for business at the age of 26 when, newly married, I invested our wedding money into starting a small supermarket, which would grow into one of the largest chains in my province. Growing up in a small fishing village in Rhizhao in the Shandong Province of China, I have lived many of the hardest lessons in entrepreneurship.
I worked for my education. I worked to build my businesses. I worked for my success.
Today, I live in the United States with my family and our Labrador. I continue applying my knowledge of tech and business to new endeavors and actively contribute to the blockchain and internet space.
Since 1994, I have invested in close to 200 technology companies, including the following:
- A global leader in VR headset manufacturing.
- The largest Chinese e-copyright agency publisher.
- A leading mobile game developer and operator.
- A Leading big data company.
- The largest shared kitchen in China.
My investments lead to business growth, and I position my companies for acquisition by some of the largest tech moguls in China and across the globe.
ENTREPRENEUR
At the age of 28, I founded DotAd, an SMS enterprise application company in China that sent out the first SMS notification of bank card balance change. The company would grow to become the largest SMS enterprise application company in China, capturing 60% of the Chinese market. In 2006, NASDAQ-listed tech organization, Focus Media, acquired the company for $30M and renamed it Focus Wireless. The newly named Focus Wireless launched China’s first 2.5G-based mobile internet advertising network.
Many more successful tech companies would follow including EGLS—one of China’s leading game developers, acquired by Dragon Pip in 2015 for $500M—as well as Wenlik, which CSC acquired in 2015 for $110M. My business endeavors are vast and varied with every company created as a future investment.
Inventor
Building successful tech companies requires developing useful and meaningful tech. To date, I hold ten patents for my inventions. In 2017, I was recognized as one of the top ten newsmakers in China—an honor held by the likes of Jack Ma and other notable investors, philanthropists, and business magnates. I have been acknowledged by the Beijing Government for my talent and innovation in technology.
With the success and fortune I’ve amassed, I embrace opportunities to give back and support the next generation of contributors in science and technology. I have sponsored more than a dozen students of outstanding character as they attended such prestigious institutions as Harvard, Tsinghua, and Peking University. I continue to support my high school alma mater financially and give back to support education with every opportunity.
